Irvine, CA - The USA Women continued their dominant run as they won their 16
th game in a row since returning from the pandemic as they defeated Russia 21-8 in front of a national TV audience and packed crowd on Monday afternoon at Woollett Aquatic Center in Irvine, CA. Team USA's offense was powered by 6 goals from
Maddie Musselman while
Ashleigh Johnson came up big in the net with 11 saves.

Team USA broke through first in this one as Musselman found the back of the net twice in a row to give the USA Women the early lead. After the teams exchanged goals Russia pulled within one but Team USA responded through a great strike from
Paige Hauschild to go up 4-2 at the end of the first. Team USA's offense continued to dominate in the second as they put up 7 goals led by two from
Makenzie Fischer to take a commanding 11-4 lead at halftime.
Facing a big deficit Russia regrouped and came out firing in the third as they went on a 4-2 run to pull within 13-8. Team USA responded though as Musselman stepped up big again ripping in a goal on the power play to put the USA Women up 14-8 at the end of the third.
Ashleigh Johnson stole the show in the fourth as she kept Russia off the board with save after save while the offense put up another 7 goal frame as Team USA ran away with a 21-8 victory.
Team USA went 9/12 on power plays and 7/9 on penalties while Russia went 2/9 on power plays and 3/3 on penalties.
