Irvine, CA – January 13, 2021 - Dr. Bronson Hamada of Surf City Optometry, a leader in sports vision and sensory training, will continue his longstanding relationship with USA Water Polo as the official vision performance provider of the men's and women's senior national teams. The new agreement runs through 2024 and will see Dr. Hamada continue to provide consultation and services to senior level athletes.
"Dr. Hamada's expertise and experience are an integral part in the vision care and high performance of our athletes. Our athletes see Dr. Hamada and the Surf City Optometry staff prior to training with our teams for routine eye care services, initial baseline concussion evaluation, sports vision assessment and contact lenses. USA Water Polo is grateful for his partnership to continue to support our senior national team athletes," said
Larnie Boquiren, USA Water Polo Women's National Team Sports Medicine Manager.Â
"It's an honor to continue as the 'Official Vision Performance Provider of USA Water Polo' through the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Working directly with USA Water Polo athletes, coaches, trainers and staff has been inspiring and motivating. Everyone within the organization shares the common goals of enjoying and promoting the sport of water polo, cultivating a culture of excellence and diversity, and always striving to reach the podium in Olympic and world competitions with our senior national teams," said Dr. Hamada.
He continued, "when we think of athletic performance, vision is often overlooked, and yet every physical action is preceded and initiated by a visual precept. We take in the relevant information with our eyes, process it with our brain, and then the motor action takes place. Vision plays a vital role! Sports vision training compliments the physical and mental training that the athletes are already doing. I want to thank Chief High Performance Officer
John Abdou, Coaches
Adam Krikorian and
Dejan Udovicic, and sports medicine managers
Larnie Boquiren and
Chris Bates for their unwavering support."
Dr. Hamada has been a longtime resource to the USA Water Polo Women's Senior National Team, winners of the last two Olympic Games, and expanded his services to include the Men's Senior National Team in 2018. A trusted expert in the Southern California sports community, Dr. Hamada also works with the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Angels, many other pro sports franchises and advised the Nike SPARQ sensory training team.
