Megan Christensen joined USA Water Polo in February 2025, bringing over 15 years of experience in business operations, event management, and sports administration. Prior to joining USA Water Polo, she served as the Associate Director of Business Operations for Entrepreneurial Activities at Sonoma State University, where she oversaw shared services for 12 departments and managed financial protocols for a budget exceeding $100 million.
She also held leadership roles in event management, ticketing, and fundraising, where she implemented innovative revenue-generating initiatives, transitioned camp operations to electronic platforms to improve efficiency, and developed streamlined fundraising strategies that generated over $150,000 annually for 13 athletic programs. Additionally, she played a key role in managing travel logistics and operations, ensuring seamless experiences for teams and athletes. Her career has been defined by a strategic and results-driven approach, with expertise in operational efficiency, financial oversight, and cross-functional collaboration. Passionate about fostering organizational growth and enhancing the athlete experience, she continues to apply these skills in her role at USA Water Polo.
A former collegiate soccer standout, Megan was a four-year starter at Sonoma State University, serving as a two-year team captain and earning the honor of 2006-07 Sonoma State University Female Athlete of the Year. She was also a two-term president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), where she served as a voice for student-athletes and worked to enhance the collegiate athletic experience. Her time as a student-athlete and leader helped shape her commitment to sports management and her dedication to supporting the next generation of athletes.
