Houston, TX - November 12 - The 2019 Champions Cup wrapped up this past weekend at the University of Houston Natatorium in Houston, Texas. It was SOCAL repeating as gold medal winners in the girl's division while Vanguard took gold in the boy's division. In the girl's division medal matches SOCALÂ took down Northwood 9-8 in a tightly contested final match that was all tied up 4-4 at halftime. The third place game saw SB 805 shutting down San Diego Shores 6-0 at halftime as they went on to win 7-3 and take bronze. On the boy's side Vanguard jumped out to a three goal lead at halftime as they went on to win the final 11-8. Greenwich wound up with the bronze as they dominated San Diego Shores taking a 10-3 lead at halftime and going on to win 13-8. For complete tournament results,

Maureen O'Toole Sportsmanship Awards were presented to athletes from each team competing at the Champions Cup. Campbell and O'Toole have a storied history within USA Water Polo as Campbell helped the USA Men's Olympic Water Polo Team to consecutive silver medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games while O'Toole was a key member of the USA Women's Olympic Water Polo Team that won silver at the 2000 Olympic Games, the first to ever offer women's water polo.
