Age Groups & Genders: Ages 3 and Up, boys and girls welcome
How Did They Start?: Beeler started the Laguna Beach program in 1997 with just 10 water polo players and 15 swimmers and now it has grown to 80 swimmers and 72 water polo players
Where Is Home Base?: Laguna Beach High School/City Pool
Where Do They Play?: The club gets involved in a variety of competitions hosted by USA Water Polo, other local clubs, and Splashball
Five Years From Now: Beeler hopes to grow the aquatics scene in nearby Aliso Viejo. An area already known for great swimmers he hopes to merge the groups to allow the sharing of facilities and resources while providing a great opportunity for athletes from both areas.
The College Scene: Four athletes playing college water polo now got their start at Laguna Beach Water Polo or at least played part of their formative years there. Sarah Zuziak (UCSB), Natasha Schulman (UCLA), Taylor Dodson (Cal) and Women's Senior Team athlete Annika Dries (Stanford) all once suited up for the Laguna Beach program.
How Does Someone Get Involved?: As Beeler says, "Most people will see an advertisement in the city book, others get word of mouth about our programs. We have a lot of repeat costumers and siblings and friends of swimmers who get others to come. If you go to the City of Laguna Beach website and look at the aquatics programs with Beeler Aquatics, you will see that our summer stuff is almost full in every class."
