MEDEX Programs

USAWP and the USOC offer medical insurance policies while traveling outside the United States. MEDEX, a travel medical insurance company, provides two options for coverage to our USAWP clubs. Both options listed below issue insurance ID cards via mail or email with 24-hour contact numbers. For more information on the specifics of the policy, please contact Dana Smith of MEDEX at 410-453-6318.

TravMed Abroad
A comprehensive package of short term medical insurance, can be purchased to cover illness and/or injury while traveling overseas. The plan gives individuals access to doctors and hospitals (in the country of location), emergency evacuation, stabilization, and a safe return home, if needed. In the case of an illness or injury while traveling, TravMed acts as the primary insurance while overseas. Ultimately, TravMed will coordinate benefits with the patient’s primary insurance to recover any expenses paid by the primary insurance.  The policy has a $100,000 benefit and costs $3 per person, per day.

MEDEX Plus
This plan was designed to help individuals effectively manage the complexities and expenses of out-of-area medical and travel emergencies, can be obtained to cover emergency evacuation, stabilization, and a safe return home only (this policy does not cover medical expenses). This additional coverage costs $13 per person, per trip.
