Events Sanction Terms & Conditions

By reading and submitting a USA Water Polo Event Sanction Application, the applicant agrees to abide by the following rules and regulations governing USAWP sanctioned events:

Participant Policy
• All US clubs, athletes, coaches, and officials participating must be in good standing and currently registered with USA Water Polo. Officials must meet the criteria of the National Referee Committee rating and certification.
• International clubs, athletes, coaches, and officials participating must be similarly recognized by a FINA organization and have a letter on file with USAWP from their home federation indicating permission to participate in USAWP events. International teams must sign a waiver in order to participate in USAWP events.

Referee Assignment Policy

All USAWP Sanctioned Events shall have referees assigned under the jurisdiction and with the approval of the Zone Head Referee.

Insurance Policy Coverage

I recognize that should a non-registered player or coach participate, my insurance coverage under USA Water Polo may be declared invalid.  I further realize that USA Water Polo has the right to check registrations of all participants and may retroactively remove this practice sanction should any violations be found. I agree to hold USA Water Polo harmless should such sanction be removed since I recognize that it is my responsibility to determine that all participants are appropriately registered.

Properly sanctioned and approved events will receive:
• $2,000,000 general aggregate per event liability coverage
• $75,000 secondary sports accident medical insurance for all currently registered USAWP members

Zone Approval Process

It is the Zone Chair’s discretion to approve/deny your request for an Event Sanction. Before submitting an event sanction through USAWP, please be sure to check your individual zone policies. Your event will not appear on the Web site without Zone Chair approval.

Competition Rules & Tournament Entry

• All competitions must be played under official USAWP rules, as posted at http://www.usawaterpolo.org/RulesEthics.aspx.
• USA Water Polo clubs and members must be offered the opportunity to enter your event, consistent with your competitive rules, on a non-discriminatory basis.

• USAWP is assigned and is the sole owner of all right, title, and interest to all television, radio, internet, and other media broadcast rights.
• Taking of photographs, other than photographs taken for the personal use of a participant at the event or the use of a USA Water Polo member club, is prohibited. In no event shall any photographs taken at the event be used for any commercial purpose including, without limitation, posting such pictures upon any website containing advertising. Any transmission, picture or other depiction or description of any game action, game information or person participating in any game is prohibited without the prior written consent of USA Water Polo, Inc.

Non-National Roster Verification

• All participating clubs must submit verified rosters for a USAWP Sanctioned Event. These are submitted by the Club Administrators and sent to the tournament director.

• Although recommended, athletes are not required to play with the team in which they are currently affiliated. If a club wishes to enforce a club affiliation rule, they must contact the National Office for approval prior to the event sanction request.
